These cookies come from our good friends at
familyfun.com. They are a great little treat that only take four ingredients to make. They do require some grown up help because you are melting chocolate in the microwave. Other than that there is no cooking involved.
Ingredients Please...

For this recipe you will need 24 marshmallows, 24 striped shortbread cookies, 1 package of chocolate chips, and some yellow decorators' icing. It will also be handy to have some toothpicks and waxed paper handy.
First...

First you dump the chocolate chips into a glass measuring cup or bowl.
Then...

Then you put it in the microwave and cook them on high for about 1 minute. A grown up must help you do this because melting chocolate can be a little tricky for kids.
While...

While the chocolate is melting in the microwave, put the cookies striped side down on a tray covered with waxed paper. Be sure to space them out well.
Now go...

Now go check on the chocolate chips. You should use a spoon and stir them up a bit. You will have to microwave them another 3o seconds and stir. Then another 3o seconds and stir. Keep doing this until the chocolate is smooth and melty. Be careful not to burn the chocolate - that will make it taste gross and you'll have to start over again. Always have an adult help you melt chocolate in the microwave.
Next...

Next you are going to dip a marshmallow in chocolate and place it onto the cookie. The next pictures will show you how this is done.
To do this...

To do this - first stick a toothpick into the center of the marshmallow - only about half way in.
Next...

Next dip the marshmallow into the melted chocolate and give it a slow spin or two to cover it with chocolate. Lift it out and let some of the extra chocolate drip off for a short moment.
Continue by...

Continue by quickly placing the chocolate covered marshmallow on top of the cookie. Here is a hint: Use an extra toothpick to hold down the marshmallow while you pull out the toothpick in the marshmallow.
After...

After you have all the marshmallows covered in chocolate and sitting on top of the cookies, place the pan in the refrigerator to firm up the chocolate. This doesn't take very long. Maybe 15 minutes or so.
Lastly...

Lastly, you will want to use the yellow frosting to put a square on the hat. This is the buckle that you see on all the pilgrim hats in Thanksgiving pictures.
To serve...

To serve, place the cookies on a holiday plate and watch them disappear. The chocolate can get a little melty-messy for littlest kids, so have a couple of wipes ready! They'll love this treat!
Now go have some fun in the kitchen!
